The Yellow Pages directory has a new look!


At Yell we’ve been listening to what our users want and as a result the directory is undergoing new and exciting changes from directories publishing from July 2010. These include moving to a smaller more compact size, a new Name Finder A-Z section at the back of the directory and Local listings added within the classified section.

The new look directory will incease usage and therefore drive more leads to your business!

Locality Listings & Name Finder section combined with Compact size, could increase Yellow Pages usage by 12%* proving people like the format and are more likely to use it to find a business like yours.

Compact directory size

The new more portable size is easier to use, easier to store and more environmentally friendly.

After one year 85% would prefer to receive a compact rather than a standard A4 directory again**

91% of those who were delivered a compact directory agree that Yellow Pages is easy to use***

New Advert Names & New sizes
The only advert names that are changing are the semi-display adverts:

  • 15 mm is changing to Small Business Card
  • 30 mm is changing to Medium Business Card
  • 45 mm is changing to Large Business Card

New Name Finder A-Z section

We're adding a brand new business Name Finder A-Z section towards the back of the directory.

All businesses will be listed in alphabetical order making it easier to find a company where you already know their name.

77% of users agree it would be good to have a complete listing of all businesses alphabetically at the back of the directory****

Improving local searches in the classified section

95% of Yellow Pages directory users agree that they try to find businesses that are local to them.****

For this reason we’re making it easier for our users to find a local business by introducing new Local Listings within the classified section.

To drive more value to our advertisers we’re also removing Free listings to ensure that all classified leads go to paying advertisers.

New additional benefits for qualifying advertisers

Display advertisers that take Yell’s Call Counter Geo™ call monitoring service qualify for a Free linked Local listing and a Free linked Name Finder listing. These will show the advertisers name, location, call monitoring telephone number and page reference to their display advert(s).
